Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Does it hurt?
A normal adjustment is painless and actually
feels good. If a patient has suffered a severe
injury such as whiplash, there may be some mild
discomfort while getting adjusted, as the area
is usually inflamed.
Do I have to go for the rest of my life?
Of course not! You don't have to do
anything "for the rest of your life." You
don't have to exercise, eat right, brush your
teeth or bathe...however, there are
consequences. For people that go through a
course of chiropractic care and get great
results, it makes sense to them to continue with
periodic chiropractic check ups.
What happens on
the first visit?
There is paperwork of course, then a thorough
focused consultation with Dr. Shtulman followed
by a chiropractic examination including a
computerized nervous system scan. Spinal
X-rays are frequently taken at the time.
On the next visit,
Dr Shtulman will review all the exam findings
with you and recommend a course of treatment.
At that time, after all your questions have been
answered, your first chiropractic adjustment
will be given.
I’ve heard that once I’ve had a chiropractic
adjustment, I can never stop. Is this true?
After your first visit, Dr. Shtulman will
recommend a health care program for you based on
how long you’ve had symptoms, your daily
activities, and stress levels. Most patients
respond positively to treatment within the first
few days to weeks of care. You decide whether
the proposed schedule of appointments feels
right for your lifestyle and your health. Dr.
Shtulman’s primary concern is helping you
achieve your health goals as quickly as
possible. He’ll help educate you about how to
properly care for your spine and nervous system
so you can become increasingly self-reliant.
What does chiropractic care cost?
Chiropractic care doesn’t cost…it pays! However,
fees are involved. Dr. Shtulman will discuss
this with you in detail after an examination. We
will file your insurance claims for you and
await payment form you insurance company. You
will be charged initially the co-pay and/ or
deductible according to your insurance plan
chiropractic coverage. If your plan does not
cover chiropractic care or you do not have
insurance, we do have affordable payment plans.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, we work with most major providers. Dr
Shtulman participates in several plans,
including Cash Payment Plans, Humana PPO, EPO,
and self funded plans, some BC/BS plans, Workers
Comp Cases, Auto Accidents, Beech Street,
Multiplan and more. Please ask whether we work
with your specific health care provider.Over
eighty percent of insurances do cover
Chiropractic care. However, it would be very
difficult to break down all the insurances
individually due to the large amount of
insurance companies and the variation of
coverage. We accept most insurance plans and are
more than happy to verify insurance coverage and
let you know prior to beginning care what
amount, if any, you’ll be responsible for. This
way there are no surprises to you.
How widely
accepted and practiced is chiropractic care?
As evidence supporting the effectiveness of
chiropractic continues to emerge, health care
consumers are turning in record numbers to
chiropractic care — a form of health care aimed
primarily at enhancing a patient's overall
health and well being without the use of drugs
or surgery. More than 30 million people visited
doctors of chiropractic last year for a variety
of conditions, and more medical doctors are
referring their patients to doctors of
chiropractic, according to the American
Chiropractic Association.
